Shapeshifting Cobots by using 3D Solid

NASA Designing Shapeshifting Robots for Saturn's Moons A prototype of the transforming robot Shapeshifter is tested in the robotics yard at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Shapeshifter is made of smaller robots that can morph into rolling spheres, flying drones, swimming submersibles, and more.Credit: NASA/JPL-Caltech  › Full image and caption Mini robots that can roll, fly, float and swim, then morph into a single machine? Together they form  Shapeshifter , a developing concept for a transformational vehicle to explore treacherous, distant worlds. In a dusty robotics yard at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, the Shapeshifter team is testing a 3D-printed prototype of this unusual explorer. A contraption that looks like a drone encased in an elongated hamster wheel rolls across the yard, then splits in half. Once separated, the two halves rise on small propellers, effectively becoming flyi...

Aramco Loses $500bln Overnight

Report: Aramco Loses $500bln Overnight TEHRAN (FNA)- The Yemeni drones operation on Saudi oil facilities that led to the largest ever disruption in oil markets has severely tarnished Riyadh's military capabilities and lowered the value of the well-known company, Aramco, in the energy market with a half-a-trillion dollar loss. The drones raids by Yemeni Houthi Ansarullah movement targeted Saudi Arabia’s key oil facilities in Abqaiq and Khurais on Saturday. The attacks shut down about 50 percent of the kingdom’s crude and gas production, and cut the state oil giant’s crude oil supply by around 5.7 million barrels per day. A return to normal production could take months, not weeks. 61-year-old engineer Amin Nasser, the Chief Executive Officer of Aramco, leads the world's largest oil company with 76,000 employees. In a few weeks, he wants to bring it to the stock market, and the international financial markets are already waiting for it. In Riyadh one...

NASA Satellite Spots a Mystery That's Gone in a Flash

LATEST NEWS NASA Satellite Spots a Mystery That's Gone in a Flash Pops of bright blue and green in this image of the Fireworks galaxy (NGC 6946) show the locations of extremely bright sources of X-ray light captured by NASA's NuSTAR space observatory. Generated by some of the most energetic processes in the universe, these X-ray sources are rare compared to the many visible light sources in the background image. A new study,  published in the Astrophysical Journal , offers some possible explanations for the surprise appearance of the green source near the center of the galaxy, which came into view and disappeared in a matter of weeks. The primary objective of the NuSTAR observations was to study the supernova - the explosion of a star much more massive than our Sun - that appears as a bright blue-green spot at upper right. These violent events can briefly produce enough visible light to outshine entire galaxies consisting of billions of stars. They also generate ma...

Walmart's Big Move on Gun Sales

New York (CNN Business) Walmart on Tuesday announced it will reduce its gun and ammunition sales, one month after more than 20 people were killed in a  mass shooting  at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas. Walmart also pressured Congress to enact gun safety measures. The company, America's largest retailer, said it will stop selling handgun ammunition and "short-barrel rifle ammunition," such as the .223 caliber and 5.56 caliber, that can also be used on assault-style weapons after selling all of its current inventory.  Walmart   ( WMT )  will also stop selling handguns in Alaska, the only state where it still sells handguns. And Walmart will request that customers no longer openly carry guns into its 4,700 US stores, or its Sam's Club stores, in states that allow open carry. "It's clear to us that the status quo is unacceptable," Walmart CEO Doug McMillon said in a memo to employees on Tuesday. However, Walmart will continue to sell long barrel dee...

Car Free Living Lifrstyles in Near Future Cities

CAR FREE SMART CITY The obsession with individual car ownership and the tendency to commute alone has created the traffic problem that everyone claims to hate. More than just a nuisance, traffic has taken from us our time and money, and has destroyed our environment and personal health. With all those hours spent sitting in traffic jams, the American economy is hurting. A 2017 study conducted by transportation consulting firm, INRIX, found that traffic congestion cost the US economy $305 billion in 2017 alone. Beyond that, according to the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), transportation is responsible for nearly 30 percent of greenhouse gases emitted in the US. These emissions create air pollution, which nine out of 10 of us breathe every single day and is responsible for the deaths of seven million people each year. Cities across the world are slowly starting to ban cars altogether While the list of cities experimenting with car bans is increas...
