Byal ဗျာလ or ဗျာလ္လ (Byalal)

Byal ဗျာလ or ဗျာလ္လ Nawarupa (Burmese: နဝရူပ ; Pali: navarūpa, lit. "nine forms"), also known as byala (ဗျာလ or ဗျာလ္လ), is a chimeric creature found in Rakhine mythology. The nawarupa is made of 9 animals, possessing the trunk of a naga or elephant, the eyes of a deer, the horns of a rhinoceros, the tongue or wings of a parrot, the body of a lion or naya, the tail of a peacock or yak, the ears of an elephant or horse, and the feet of a chinthe or karaweik. In the Konbaung dy nasty, the nawarupa decorated one of the ceremonial royal barges Byala is a mythical creature which embellishes religious structures, especially in Rakhine State . It is regarded by the Rakhines as a symbol bringing good luck and auspiciousness. Mt Popa

Situated isolatedly in the central part of Myanmar to the south-eastern tip of Myingyan District is a mountain by the name “Popa” deep in mysteries, legends and history backed by geology and geography. Its physical features and fossils prove that Popa is an extinct volcano of old age. To the most northernly direction of Bago Yoma hill range rising 4981 feet above sea level Mount Popa stands majestically. There is no other mountain near it. It is the only mountain sprouting out, with a volcanic crater on its top. In clement weather, Mt Popa is clearly visible from the Ayeyawady River about 40 miles’ distance from it. The northern section of its crater slightly slopes to the west and the eastern, southern and western sections are higher. Some people, perhaps with special vision, say that they can see the image of Popa from Myelat area and southern Shan state. The one-tonne, six-wheeled rover was launched out of Florida by an Atlas rocket on a path to intercept the Red Planet in February next year.
