Restaurant (Food) Inspectors

JUST A THOUGHT (BUT I HAVE CONCERNS) In food industry, there is a say "if you see one cockroach under the light in front of your eyes, there will be a million in the dark (and wet places, under stoves, under storage shelves, etc)". Marine biologists even claim that the cockroach under water become lobsters. They are related. Pest controllers can come to food shops and terminate few at a time. They know where to find it and thats it. You can tell cleanliness of the kitchen just by looking at the size of cockroaches. You have regular pest control, the sizes are small, otherwise. Resturant kitchen sanitation is very important these days because of new virus you dont even know what they are. Just basic thing, washing hands are extremely important these days. You have to wash your hands like a operating room surgeon, and that is not exaggerating, I would like to say here Same with bed bugs, you see one or few, there will be millions inside...

Comet Provides New Clues to Origins of Earth's Oceans

Image
Comet Provides New Clues to Origins of Earth's Oceans Comet Provides New Clues to Origins of Earth's Oceans The mystery of why Earth has so much water, allowing our "blue marble" to support an astounding array of life, is clearer with new research into comets. Comets are like snowballs of rock, dust, ice, and other frozen chemicals that vaporize as they get closer to the Sun, producing the tails seen in images. A new study reveals that the water in many comets may share a common origin with Earth's oceans, reinforcing the idea that comets played a key role in bringing water to our planet billions of years ago. The Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy, SOFIA, the world's largest airborne observatory, observed Comet Wirtanen as it made its closest approach to Earth in  December 2018 . Data collected from the high-flying observatory found that this comet contains "ocean-like" water. Comparing this with information about other co...

Rare Earth to be used as weapon in cell phone war

Image
Fears rise China could weaponise rare earths in US tech war WRITER: AFP  Rare earths are used in a number of goods including smartphones, televisions and lightbulbs BEIJING: The US has hit China where it hurts by going after its telecom champion Huawei, but Beijing's control of the global supply of rare earths used in smartphones and electric cars gives it a powerful weapon in their escalating tech war. A seemingly routine visit by President Xi Jinping to a Chinese rare earths company this week is being widely read as an obvious threat that Beijing is standing ready for action. However, analysts say China appears apprehensive to take such a route just yet, possibly fearful of shooting itself in the foot by hastening a global search for alternative supplies of the commodities. While Chinese official sources released no comments by Xi during his inspection, his public appearances are usually larded with political meaning, and this week's stop is viewed...

2016 Tukey Coup: It is not done yet

Turkey orders arrest of 249 foreign ministry staff AFP  , Monday 20 May 2019 Turkish authorities on Monday ordered the arrest of 249 past and present foreign ministry personnel suspected of ties to the group blamed for a failed 2016 coup, the prosecutor's office said. At least 78 have already been detained, the office in the capital Ankara said. The latest crackdown is part of a probe in 42 cities into alleged irregularities in the foreign ministry entrance exam in favour of members of a movement led by US-based Muslim preacher Fethullah Gulen. The suspects joined the foreign ministry between 2010 and 2013, according to the prosecutor's office. Fourteen are currently serving in the ministry, while the rest had already been removed from their posts, a judicial source told AFP. Ankara blames Gulen and his followers for orchestrating a failed coup in 2016 aimed at unseating President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The movement denies the allegations...

F16 crashed by the March Reserve AFB runway

Thats where I used to work for almost a year. It is in Moreno Valley, California by 215 freeway. My office was very close to the runway and AFB fence. I saw F16s taking off and land every hour. Quite an pilot friendly birds. There were mostly C17 transports and KC135 air refuelers stationed in that reserve AFB base, over 10 of those each. There were always (2) F16s standby in open hanger very close to the runway for quick action An Air Force F-16 fighter jet crashed into the side of a commercial building in California Thursday, authorities said. No one was injured when the plane from the March Air Reserve Base slammed into the warehouse off-base in Riverside, said Timothy Holliday, the deputy fire chief at the Air Force Civilian Service. The pilot, believed to be the only person aboard, safely ejected from the plane while still on the base, he added. Photos from local TV news stations showed a massive hole in the roof of the structure and sprinklers on inside the building. ...

S400 anti-aircraft SAM system

Image
Iraq has decided to buy Russian S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems, Iraqi Ambassador to Russia Haidar Mansur Hadi said.  "With regard to air defense systems, the Iraqi government has made a decision. Iraq wants to buy S-400," the diplomat said noting that there was no written agreement on the issue between Russia and Iraq yet. In October 2018, it was reported that India also bought Russian air defence systems. Prior to that, contracts were signed with China and Turkey. Russia and Turkey reached an agreement to supply four S-400 divisions to Ankara in September 2017. The contract is evaluated at $2.5 billion, with a half of this amount accounting for a Russian loan. As soon as Russia and Turkey announced the deal the United States delivered an ultimatum to Turkey: if Ankara does not refuse to acquire the S-400 from Russia, Washington will not deliver fifth-generation F-35 fighters to Turkey. S-400 Triumf is a Russian long- and medium-range anti-aircraft m...

Planet-Hunter CubeSat Images Los Angeles at night

Image
LATEST NEWS Planet-Hunter CubeSat Images Los Angeles A small satellite designed to hunt for new planets beyond the solar system recently looked down at Earth to capture an image of California's "City of Stars." The greater Los Angeles area stands out in these images from  ASTERIA , the Arcsecond Space Telescope Enabling Research in Astrophysics, a satellite not much larger than a briefcase. ASTERIA is a CubeSat, or a small satellite composed of cubic units that measure 10 centimeters (4.5 inches) on each side. This particular CubeSat is made up of six units. The images, taken March 29, reveal a massive grid of illuminated city streets and freeways. A bright spot near the center of the first image marks the location of Dodger Stadium. (The Dodgers played the Arizona Diamondbacks at home that night.) To the northeast, near the darkness of the San Gabriel Mountains, is NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, which built and operates ASTERIA,...

Global race to produce hypersonic vehicles (based on century old ideas)

During the decades of the Cold War there were numerous arms races between the United States and the Soviet Union. First, in the 1940s, was the race to develop nuclear weapons. In the 1950s and 1960s the two superpowers raced to see who could be first to deploy jet bombers and land- and sea-based ballistic missiles that could carry nuclear warheads. There was even a race to land a man on the moon. Starting in the 1980s, the United States took the lead in the development of extremely accurate conventional weapons such as laser-guided bombs and missiles that used Global Positioning Satellite signals. Now a new arms race has begun, one in which America’s rivals, particularly Russia and China, may be ahead. This is the race to build and put in the field  super-fast or hypersonic weapons . The military defines a hypersonic weapon as one that travels at least Mach 5, or five times the speed of sound. Advanced hypersonic missiles can fly at Mach 15 or more. In comparison, comm...

Huawei 5G claim vs US President Decision (just 5 hrs ago)

US banns all telecom equipment import from abroad (From US side) Trump has banned telecoms equipment from "foreign adversaries" Despite denials that the order is aimed at any specific country or company, it’s most likely a move against Huawei, and China’s tech sector more generally. The order: President Trump declared a "national emergency," arguing that "foreign adversaries are increasingly creating and exploiting vulnerabilities in information and communications technology and services." The order aims to clamp down on the "unrestricted acquisition or use" by US technology companies of equipment made by "foreign adversaries." It gives the Commerce Department 150 days to draft rules to restrict these sorts of sales. Separately: The Commerce Department said it was adding Huawei to its "Entity List," which stops it from buying components from US companies without government approval. The context: Huawe...
