In food industry, there is a say
"if you see one cockroach under the light in front of your eyes, there will be a million in the dark (and wet places, under stoves, under storage shelves, etc)". Marine biologists even claim that the cockroach under water become lobsters. They are related. Pest controllers can come to food shops and terminate few at a time. They know where to find it and thats it. You can tell cleanliness of the kitchen just by looking at the size of cockroaches. You have regular pest control, the sizes are small, otherwise. Resturant kitchen sanitation is very important these days because of new virus you dont even know what they are. Just basic thing, washing hands are extremely important these days. You have to wash your hands like a operating room surgeon, and that is not exaggerating, I would like to say here
Same with bed bugs, you see one or few, there will be millions inside old walls, old electrical lines/inlets inside the wall, on the cracks of the old floors. You just cannot terminate them 100%, you can only isolate them away from your sleeping quarters, stuff like that
