Not Too Long. Less Than 30 Years Ago
In the beginning, homosexuals are called gays
It emerged with a sonic boom during the big time HIV/AIDS epidemic era, LA riots in Koreatown in South Central LA
Same time I was working in LA early1990s for Company dealing with Movie Agents, Movie Companies, Studios big, medium and small inside the triangle of the Strip, in West HollywoodWH, in BH, all the way up Hollywood hillsHH and in Los Angeles area with the radius of 70 miles operating area.
US is the only country in the world at that point and this point still using English Imperial System (Foot/Pound/Second) officially and strictly NOT French Metric System (CGS). Even British are using Metric now
Back to the story, I noticed that early 1990s, there was one pickup point on Santa Monica Blvd on the edge of Hollywood and LA, guys in ties and suits picking up young boys on a regular basis. Boys were hanging out roller skating and all that, stay there the whole day doing nothing. In the same time, the attacks on gays in WH area were in newspapers and in TV. West Hollywood area was the origin of gays in US and in the world. Then after a while there was a big boom of clubs, restaurants in the area, brand new ones and it all was very successful and crowded all time since it launched. The money & Hollywood influence caused the unprecedented changes there and worldwide. Then after a while, States starting to legalise gay marriages and then Federal, allowed same sex marriages, even Military allowed recruiting gay soldiers and all those series of developments until now to be brief
